Description:
Pinnacle Peak Trail is an easy out and back trail to the peak, which is situated in the middle of the Tatoosh Range. This trail takes hikers to the second highest peak in the range with the elevation of 6562 feet.
The trail takes its’ beginning from the parking lot and climbs up the hill. Very soon, as the trail climbs steeper, you will enjoy snow even in the middle of summer. And what’s more beautiful, near this snow you will see tender avalanche lilies and lots of greenery. The perfect combination!
As the path takes you higher, you leave refreshing Hemlock forest and begin to step on rocky slopes of Pinnacle Peak.
When you leave the forest, enjoy gorgeous views from the saddle. To the north, hikers enjoy astounding and close views of Mount Rainier and the Paradise Area, to the south – Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens. Mount Hood can be also seen on the horizon on a clear day.
Hikers have the opportunity to continue to Plummer Peak, but remember that a well-maintained trail ends in the saddle. If you choose to go off the path, keep in mind that along the path to Plummer Peak you will encounter steep cliffs.
In you choose to summit Plummer Peak, walk through the saddle, turn right and follow the boot path. Plummer Peak has several comfortable and flat areas that allow hikers to sit and to relish fresh air and dramatic views of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood.
