Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park has the territory of 7,470 acres with 27,000-feet of freshwater shoreline. The forest is a registered national natural landmark that can tell a lot about the history of the region.

It should be mentioned that petrified wood was discovered in the region 1930s. Ginkgo Petrified Forest is considered to be one of the most unusual forests in the earth. Mineralized trees can be observed if you choose to hike special Interpretive Trails.

There are 57 picnic tables (unsheltered) which are available on first come – first served basis.

Directions:

From I-90

Take Exit 136, Huntzinger Road. Turn left onto the Old Vantage Highway to the Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park Headquarters and Interpretive Trails.  Continue on to Recreation Road for the Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park Backcountry.
